The geo-location filter has 2 options – either a strictly zip-code based option, or (the default) one that looks for city names that match within a radius from a certain zip code. The former requires all contacts that might be selectable/de-selectable for delivery to have something in the Zip Code field. The latter is more forgiving, just looking for a match to the city name.
Example: option 1 – looking for zip codes within 5 miles of my zip code in Cardiff would be 92075, 92007, 92008, 92024 - if any contacts had any of those in their Zip code, it would match.
option 2 – it would look for all the contacts in option 1 PLUS it would look for any contacts that had “Solana Beach”, “Cardiff”, “Encinitas”, or “Carlsbad” in their City field. Now someone might be in a zip code in Carlsbad that’s further than 5 miles away, but if their city says “Carlsbad”, it’ll return a match no matter what.
Cool, huh?
